President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, to take part in the NATO Leaders Meeting

President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, on 3-4 December 2019, will participate in the NATO Leaders Meeting taking place in London, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The meeting will celebrate 70 years of age of the North Atlantic Alliance and, besides ceremonial manifestations, will include a working session for the allied leaders to discuss NATO’s priorities in the current international security context and the decisions to take to advance the Alliance’s adapting process.
On this occasion, the Allied leaders will assess the state of play of putting into practice the measures to enhance NATO’s deterrence and defence posture and those addressing the role the Alliance is playing in projecting stability and providing support to partner states. At the same time, the heads of state and government of the Allied Member States will take decisions on modernising NATO and increase its role in fighting the current threats and challenges to the Euro-Atlantic security.
During debates, President Klaus Iohannis will emphasize Romania’s contribution within NATO, as well as the utmost importance that the Allies stay united and solidary, and will present the national assessment on the security evolutions in the region and globally. Against this background, the President of Romania will highlight the need to continue the process of tailoring the deterrence and defence posture on the Eastern Flank and in the Black Sea Region.
